I can think of no Seagull that is not grey , black and white, in various proportions of mostly the same basic silhouette breaking layout. A few will note that seasonal head plumage on some of them, the Black -headed Gull for instance, is a very dark chocolate brown That there are hundreds of types of Seagull is lost on most of us, even Merchant seamen, to whom any gull smaller wings than an Albatross is a ' Shite-tawk'. The exception to that is perhaps is the Great black backed gull, the largest gull of all is usually known as a 'fucking great shite-hawk'.

The Universal Seagull

I can think of no Seagull that is not grey , black and white, in various proportions of mostly the same basic silhouette breaking layout. A few will note that seasonal head plumage on some of them, the Black -headed Gull for instance, is a very dark chocolate brown That there are hundreds of types of Seagull is lost on most of us, even Merchant seamen, to whom  any gull with smaller wings than an Albatross is a ' Shite-Hawk'. Knowing some people an  Albatross , of which there are many kinds, could turn out to be one of the  large Boobies, which really are a  family of seabirds by the way! The exception to that is perhaps is the Great black backed gull, the largest gull of all is usually known  as a 'fucking great shite-hawk'. The more interested can and will start telling them apart even when they are nearly identical, a Herring gull will differ from a Lesser black-backed gull by having pink legs instead of yellow ones, legs and beaks, be they yellow, red or pink are the only concession to colour the gulls as a group offer. The painting I've made here covers all of them.
