Osprey over Loch Faskally

Salmon have disturbed the morning calm of Scotland's Loch Faskally, a patrolling Osprey maneuvers to strike. Osprey were extinct in Britain between 1916 and 1954, they first returned to Loch Garten and have managed fairly well since.  Since 2001 they have, with a bit of help from an earlier introduction, began breeding in England again, first at Rutland Water, a reservoir in the small county of Rutland in the midlands, then also in 2001 at Bassenthwaite Lake in the Lake District, these latter were birds from the Scottish population. They were the first two nests in England for 160 years. Since then a small recovery has been ongoing, with the first nests occurring in Wales in 2012.
