'Kingdom of the Condor’ My first single image quadtych is of an Andean Condor sailing over the vast footland’s beneath the mountains around Chuquibambilla, cattle country par excellence in the Apurimac region of southern Peru. This largest flying bird in the western hemisphere would make an impressive National bird for Peru, yet alas, it’s not. That is the colourful Cock-of-the-rock you see sat quietly on the second post from the left. Certainly here as a vagrant from its usual habitat of the mountain cloud forest to the east of here, this Peruvian member of the Cotinga birds is the holder of that title. 4 x Acrylic on canvas All text and images and linked images are © 2003-2009 George Rix .If you require any further information on permitted use, or a licence to republish any material, email me at copyright@seawitchartist.com |
